A sample of games was tested, evidence was gathered, and the original game providers were asked to confirm whether the games were real. Where a provider could not confirm authenticity, the site was added to Gamecheck's database as “Fake Games Detected” and is now under ongoing monitoring.
The pattern in Gamecheck's data holds steady from week one. Most of these operators favour short, numeral-heavy domain names, cycle through near-identical branding, and lean on the same handful of templates to look established. Brazil's online casino market has been growing quickly, driven by wider smartphone adoption and improved internet access, according to Statista. Gamecheck's data suggests this same growth is what makes the market attractive to rogue operators: more players searching for new sites to try means more opportunities to pass off fake games as real.
